The speech focused on starmer’s central slogan of “national renewal,” and included pledges to nationalize britain’s railways, tackle a housing crisis by changing planning. Ahead of today’s speech, the government announced an increase in the national living wage, from £10.42 to £11.44 an hour, to take effect in april 2024.
